How to do it:
1) Take an all time classic game from the early arcade times called Defender
2) Add background, different weapons and advanced gameplay
3) Drop frustration level
and ull get STRIKEFORCE...

Admirable what Midway packed into this "sequel" of old Defender. The description of all the different weapons alone could fill this page.
Sound and gameplay are nicley done and its a bit easier than Defender....i dont know i never managed to get to 5th level with one credit...
Between levels u may buy powerups and weapons for ur ship and u can decide which planet to fly to next. There even are powerups for the ship itself. U may change type of ship by pressing START button (changing ur ship from fixed forward shot to all-around shot or even combined shot possibilities),

Ur mothership appears at start and end of level, dropping u or pickin u up. Also it appears in midlevel dropping some space-marines that hold on to ur ship and fire along side u (automatically) at the nearest enemy. U can hold up to 10 Marines this way. NICE idea.
Enemies are multiple and their attack-style alone is worth seeing. Theyre throwing rocks, eating ur powerups, flying with gliders, hide behind trees, hijack colonists... and explode in the most bloody way...with one word (or three): typical Midway humor. I like it.
If ur lucky u will see the endbosses
planet floating around. Fly there and ull enter last level. BEWARE though. This ones
VEEEEEERY hard!
And as always with Midway boards be sure the extra soundboard comes along with the
main pcb.
